Title: glass surface type
Post by: shoemaro on November 13, 2007, 02:03:33 PM
I have an old dynamo table from around the late 70s that have a glass top.  The table is in excellent shape, but it needs a new piece of glass.  The glass in the table is not the original, it was replaced with sheet glass that is smooth.  Does anyone know what kind of glass is supposed to be used in a foosball table for the playing surface.

Tempered glass with one smooth and one pebbled surface is what a lot of Texas tables came with. Some locations preferred one or the other so vendors could simply turn the glass over for their customers to suit. It must be tempered for durability and safety.

The glass surfaced table is by far the best one. You can get the finely pebbled glass where they sell glass. I got mine from a shower and bath supply store when I replaced mine in 1975. It broke in the first six months, but good since then, play on it about 45 min. every work day at the office.
