How often would you use a bankshot on the 2-bar,5-bar and 3-bar? :o

Never, never, and never.  Some people mix them in, but not too many people shoot then very frequently on Tornado (though there are a couple).

On Bonzini, banks are much more common.

Banks are consistently doable from all the rods, even on a Tornado table.  Bank shots can be done in top pro matches from the goalie position all tournament long by a well-trained top goalie.  Not that many goalies are willing to put in the training to do that because they work so hard getting other shots down.  Also, the prevailing thought is that top goalies should just pass the ball up to the forward and let the forward shoot.  But the truth is, that a good-shooting goalie can be so dangerous offensively that it is scary.  Shot selection is key to banking, and for the inside scoop, ask Grandmaster.  If he is willing to let the info out, then that's fine.  Maybe I've said too much already.

As to shooting bankshots from the three-rod, there is no problem making the shot for one skilled and practiced.  The difficulty is in setting up the shot and hiding the fact that that is the shot you are going to shoot.   This is because the ball optimally sets up behind the bar in a spot where it is difficult to quickly adjust to another shot if the goalie catches on what you are doing.  So most top-notch bankshots from forward occur when the forward catches the ball on the fly and shoots before the opposing team knows what is happening.

As was posted earlier a bank shot is doable from any rod and/or any man, but it takes a lot of practice to hit them consistantly, especially in the pressure of a match. I have been playing for a very long time and I love to shoot bank shots. But other than a funzie pick-up game I will not shoot a bank from anywhere except goalie. I am only rated a semi pro, but I believe my goalie game is at a pro level. Being successful with shooting, and scoring banks from the goal area is very dependant on being able to exicute a set shot, such as a pull or a push. Then you can hit the bank to break their zone defence for the pull or push. Todd Loffredo does a great pull-kick bank to the far wall. The thing is that to score a bank, you have to strike it pretty hard, and if they block it back at you it is very hard to stop because it will be comming at strange angles, and may hit other men as well. Just like everything else in foosball.

PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!
Then practice some more.

I have had a lot of success using a bank shot as my primary shot from the three bar, even in tournaments. The only thing holding me back is my passing game. It really depends on the table though. A lot of bank shots, when using a slicker ball, are hit using a hard pinch on the back toe, and such shots are predictable because it's easy to see the set up. However, on every table I've played on so far except tornado, I can hit a bank shot off of a pull kick or push kick stance, and very fast at that. It's more of a hard lateral movement with a well timed kick for a little forward movement. It takes a long time to pick up that kind of timing. Bank specialists take a lot of time setting up their offensive sets. I am currently working on a backpin offense from the 2  being able to pull quickly to the 1 or 3 for a long bank. The bank towards me still needs some work. When you have the straight shot threat as well, the bank can be quite challenging to block. The neat thing about bank specialists is we always feel like we invented the shot ourselves, because often we never really learned it from anyone else, at least from the 3-rod. I'm always amazed to find others who are good at it.

If anyone here can instruct me how to hit a pull kick into a bank shot from the 3-rod on the tornado table, please, I'm begging you. That shot would fly.

I recently started hitting a forward bank from the three-man on tornado. The short bank is easy and the long is so hard but hitting it from the center man is proving more difficult. It's not a pin bank, more of a movement into the ball, but you have to hit the ball of the edge of the man toward the top of the ball, but not to high on the ball. Maybe someday I'll be able to do it off a moving ball. The short bank proves a good option to a pull kick setup. The reverse bank toward me will be a lot harder to figure out.
