Title: How is everyone preparing for Texas State?
Post by: plaidhorsie on May 12, 2006, 12:50:07 AM
I am planning on playing in the Texas State tourney.  This is my first big tourney and I feel a bit under-prepared.  My local bar has one other serious player...and he's my partner.  We don't really have any serious competition to train against aside from each other.  Is there anything I could do to help up my game for the tourney?

Thanks

Try to play some DYPs, any warmups you can get out to, and practice.

And then take off a couple days before the tournament, show up early on the first day and practice on the tables/balls being used so you can adjust to them.

And don't play goalie wars or forward shootout unless they're at the end--it's really easy to shoot your arm out at a big event and have nothing left for Saturday/Sunday.  Ease into it and if it's not a problem you can try picking those up at your next tournament.
