Protect kids from protruding bars
« on: January 04, 2008, 05:39:19 PM »
Hi,

I was wondering if anybody has a solution to protect kids/children
from accidentally running into the bars.

We have are table in the middle of the living room.  I have 3 young
kids, and they can easily get hurt by the protruding bars.  Is there
some type of protection to put on the table, probably around the
bars.  Some one suggested padding around each bar, but that would be
too much hassle to remove each one when we wanted to play.  Maybe some
board with hanging edges covering the bars to put over the table?

If anyone has any ideas, let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Anthony

I won't play around little kids, I just shudder to think about what could happen if they walked into a hard shot. Not good at all,,,

You can use foam pipe insulation. Very dense and comes in varying thicknesses and about 6 foot lengths. Cheap too. About $2 or $3.
Home Depot, Lowes or a hardware store. It is split down the middle, so very easy to put on.

Take some plastic pipe tubing and put it around the bars.  The bars can move freely inside the plastic tubing, but from the child's perspective, nothing is moving at all.

To make this more clear, insert the end of the rod into the plastic tubing like an ink filler into a pen.  Use duct tape to fasten the tubing securely to the table.
