Topic: table on carpet

I have my table on carpet, and it seems I'm having a little trouble getting it as level as I'd like.  Should I place the legs on wood or something like that?  I'd think the table might shift around if I did that though.  What kind of flooring do you all have your table on?

I used to have mine on carpet. just get a 1ft sq piece and it should be fine. Mine didnt slide at all. I think it was about 1/2 inch thick piece of plywood.

mine is in a garage seperate from my apartment and the floor is the most unlevel surface ive ever seen...it slopes about four inches from front to back to where you almost have to use the parking brake.  My table is about as level as its going to get....I had a few pros over the other night and they said the surface does sometimes make it about impossible to get it perfect becasue there are a few spots i cant get just right...was worried it was my surface but when it was in my house it was perfect......

The table will eventually settle into place.  The weight of the table will mash the carpet easy, but squishing the pad underneath the carpet will take a little more time.  Putting squares under will help a little in the short term, but not necessarily in the long term.  I would just wait it out a bit and see if it settles in.

my table is on carpet

add 100-150 pounds to the table using 25 lb bags of lead shot - these are pretty expensive but they work really good

the other option is 25 pd bags of salt (from Dollar General) for $4 each or 50 lb bags of sand

or collect milk bottles, clean them out and fill them with water and they are about 8 lbs a peice...lot more work over a longer period of time but it is cheap

I just picked up a table before christmas.  I have it in my basement on carpet.  It seems to have settled out pretty well now.  I checked the level every week for the first couple weeks.  I have not had a to readjust it since then.

I have been reading a few places where people add weights.  I have a storm II that I want to add weight to.  Do you just put the sand bags (or lead shot or whatever) on the "ledge" over the legs on each end?  Or do you get 2x6s to span between the ledges then add the weight on top of those?  I am trying to figure out the best method for adding weight.  Thanks!

I had a cyclone II  and i was told to brace it with 2x4's underneath and use sandbags on that..
