I used to play with cork, but after switching to ITSF yellow ball, I couldn't go back, it takes a little bit to adapt but after that, you have a better control and can be more precise in your pass and shot. (I know very good players do that with cork ball as well)

Removing the paint, will definitely help on cork ball, you can also burn them a little bit to increase the grip
