2010 VA State Foosball
« on: December 06, 2010, 06:54:59 AM »
I'm heading up to Verona Friday evening. The tournament room should be set-up and playable by 9:00 pm. We need the area players to come out strong and support htis event. It's a last moment tournament that keeps a 27 year tradition alive. Virginia has a rich history and tradition in the world of foosball and we need to help keep it going.

The hotel rates are great, about $30.00 per person at the Knights Inn in Verona.

Here's the poster also:

We have some really good teams showing up for this 1-day event, so please try to make it out and support the VA area players.

This past summer a back injury forced us to cancel the 27th Annual VA State Foosball Championships in Staunton, VA.
With tremendous help from our playerbase and support from a long standing Bonzini table location, we have secured a place and date to continue Virginia's long standing tradition of state foosball championships. Albeit a 1-day event, it will allow us help to support our Virginia players and history to the game. We will have a 4 table set-up with low entry fees and table fees. Our goal is to attract 25-30 players for a day of competition and fun. I want to thank the owners of Rackem Smackem Ribs for their support and I definately know our players will enjoy some of the best ribs in Southwest, VA. Thanks again to our players from SC, NC and VA for working together to make this happen.

I'll try to find a host hotel ASAP. so please mark this date down and attend if you can.

Alan,
So good to see that French style foos is alive & well in the western mountains of VA.  In the summer of '72 a sales friend & I set up a ready to play Rene Pierre table & secured it to the bed of his pickup. We headed out from VA Beach with a tarp for rain but usually the table was visible & riding high in the sunshine. We had a great time & even sold a few tables.  Our rolling rig was primitive compared to your Bonzini-Mobile & table trailer & we didn't get much west of Richmond before heading back to Tidewater.  Long live French style foos in the great state of Virginia & the USA.  john hayes

Dr. John,

With the interest in Chi-Town, Ohio, and Indiana, it may not be long before we venture to the Mid East US. Seems players are interested in a change. 2010 was a good year for player base growth also. Hopefully the economy in 2011 will aloow us to budget for some expansion.

That seems like a positive trend Alan.  I've had some friends over to play Bonzini here in the Chicago burbs.  We use the B ball as a better transition for the local (mainly Tornado) highly skilled players. It remains a wide open moving game. Yes-hope to see you soon on the Bonzini tour.   JKH
