Topic: Tornado table identification

Hi guys,

some one here in Germany is selling this table:







I need your advice on that: Could you tell me which model this is? Is it a good table? How much should I pay for it at maximum?

It may be an optical illusion, but from the top view the sides look bowed out.  Might  be the camera lens.

Ben would be a good adviser on which model it is.  But for price, I think I would ask Davey Oates on the UK Board.  The price in the US could be deceptive.  He should have a better handle on pricing.  It probably depends on how often Tornado tables come up for sale in Europe and the exchange rate.

You would probably want to update the handles also.  I think you would like the newer handles.

Ben is deadbarfoos. 

The ball return doesn't look right to me.  It doesn't look like it has the split bearings.  Even the cabinet color looks odd.  That could be the light.

I would be careful with this.  I'm starting to think clone or counterfeit here.  Of  course, as long as the play field feels right, the bottom half doesn't matter.

another thing about the bearings....It looks like a split cabinet and i believe all the split cabinet tornado tables are higher end and have the spit bearings.....which is a different size hole than the snap in bearings which those are.  None of the pics show the side of the table that a patent label would be.....

Wow... I'm gonna say this is a custom build. It has a tornado top, rods, men, handles but the cabinet and ball return looks like a custom build.
That is real stained wood as you can see on the difference of the stain absorbed by the grain the wood. The top shot shows the goals without the metal bottom part which the ball hits after the black "whip" sounding piece, which I've never seen. All in addition to the odd snap-in bearings on a coin-op table.
Looks like those legs might be actual painted wood too, and not the composite material.

Another thing to consider, Tornado might have manufactured/sold a different coin-op model for use in Europe.

bearings are like on a twister, the cabinet was stripped or as suggested custom...Tor hasn't made a special Euro tables that I've ever heard...they don't like doing business like that

i wouldn't take that table for free let alone pay anything for it

Huh, that's harsh. But thanks for the appraisal. I don't think I'll buy it anyway. If I ever buy a Tornado, it should be a real tournament table. Is the T 3000 worth the money? Or should I look out for one of the older models?
