Old Glass top Tornado

Newbie here looking to get back into table soccer as we used to  call it in England!

Have been looking for tables based on all the great informative posts here and it has come down to these choices...please help and advise

1. Tornado coin op brown marble ..two bent rods, dirty and paint overspray on about 15% of the surface! Probably can remove it but unsure what damage spirits/alcohol will do to underlying surface? Neglected but can have for $150...

2. Great condition Tornado Cyclone 1 $250 ready to play...

3. Old Tornado Glass top coin op some rods replaced , spare parts come with $300

4. Wait for the right coin op?

5. Buy Cyclone and find coin op while I play. Should be able to unload Cyclone for pretty much what I paid for it....do guys agree on my logic?

Thanks in advance for your words of wisdom

Mr. Tagger,
I am going to assume that budget is the key.

Keep looking unless you are in a hurry. The cyclone is a better bet than any of the other options.
Old Tornado's are rough to learn on but that is going to be a good less expensive option. Selling them are normally easier depending on the area of the country.

Buy and keep trading up until you can get a really nice table.

Good luck, Brad Laurine

PS. Look Jim, I didn't even mention the name of another table company...lol :-X

I would have to see the brown marble to decide if it was my first choice.  The price is certainly attractive.

Unless the glass top has the big D instead of the Tornado in the middle, I wouldn't be interested.  I'm not sure how the glass top would play with the new balls but with the original balls, I don't think the majority of players would like it, especially if you like to do pin shots.

Depending on the current status of your game, the cyclone might be all right.  I'm not too fond of any non coinop, but they still are better than anything you can find at a department  store.

See if you can hook up with some locals who might be willing to give you some guidance.  Let us know what part of the country you're in and maybe some of your locals here will chime in.

A little history...The old glass tops with the original balls were really slick, and too often, not necessarily round.  They were nicknamed "iceballs" for a reason.  Players who preferred the iceballs kind of looked down on players who couldn't play them because they took a lot more effort and a much lighter touch.  Pins could be done, but pushes and pulls easily dominated because the balls were so slick.  It was much harder for beginners to master, especially compared to today's balls.

What part of the country are you looking in?  I have a nice "Dynamo - Soccer" table I am looking to sell.  Glass is nice, raised corners, rods are straight as an arrow and the middle Soccer ball logo is perfect.  Only minor blems in a few places.  Really been taken care of nice.  Email me if you would like pics.  piechocki5@new.rr.com

glass is only if you are a collector but if you want to get back into the game then a coin op is the way to go depending on somethings

why are you looking at tables that are so cheap? is your budget really that tight or are you just not wanting to spend money you don't have to?  what are your short and long term goals for playing?  sometimes its better to spend more money the right way the first time so you dont have to spend it a second time and end up actually spending more but I understand genuine budget concerns which is why I point people to used coin ops but if you really have money to spend, there are better ways to go

feel free to email me if you want more perosnal help going forward
