Critical dimensions of a home built table
« on: September 16, 2012, 08:24:04 PM »
Interior dimension of a standard table- 47 3/8 inches in length. This means a playfield can be constructed from a 48" piece of, well, any standard American type  4'X8' manufactured panel. It Also means that you can cover said panel with a piece of laminate since they come in 4'X8' panels as well. My personal favorite is Wilsonart Emerald Green. Since playfields  are 26 3/4" wide plus 3/4" X 2 = 28 1/4" in actual width your eight foot piece of  MDF should make 3 playfields. The playfield is crucial to the entire table, similar to the slate of a pool table. Since Tornado uses MDF, duplicating playability requires using essentially the same product in the same dimensions. The Wilsonart color is my personal choice of green and it very , very , very closely duplicates the entire play characteristics of a Tornado playfield. Once you have rods and a playfield the rest is in the next few messages. GM
