I think what your asking about is the "7" or the "tuck"achieved by cutting the ball back at an inside angle between the goalies defense.

A whip pullshot is a one motion pullshot that fluidly transitions between 3 stages of the shot. The lateral motion of the pull, the pinch execution of the actual shot, and then the recoil are all flow seamlessly. There is very little to no backswing in the shot, and the follow through of the shot incorporates the recoil. It's pretty easy to demonstrate, but quite hard to describe.

Very good. Actually it is a reverse or mirror image of a 7 if you trace the path of the ball on the table surface. Sam has it right also,first the rod travel is towards you, the rod is rotated to strike the ball and the bar travels away from you as you brush it in. Not actually a cut hit with the edge of the man, but a brush hit with the front of the man.  GM
