Classic Table/Rods
« on: May 07, 2014, 10:23:39 PM »
Hi All,

I have played a lot of foosball in my time, especially on Tornado tables, and just purchased a Tornado Classic model off a guy from Craigslist for my basement!

Just a couple quick questions. First I was just wondering what everyone thinks of the model. I never realized there were so many but this one seemed to be one of the better home ones. I paid $450 and the table is in excellent condition.

However, I did notice that a couple of the rods (2 mans in particular) have some of the chome plating flaking off. I was wondering if anyone else has this problem, if it affects gameplay at all, and what the options are as far as fixing/replacing them.

Thanks!

Good home model, not coin-op quality but perfectly useable. $450 is a little high: you can often get a used coin-op for that price.

Flaking chrome is a problem if you notice a lot of friction. Otherwise I wouldn't worry about it. If it gets bad, just replace the rod(s).

I would send a note to Tornado    http://builtbyplayers4players.com/contact       this is a current model and flaking chrome sure sounds like an improper  plating process  I would also guess many more tables were affected.  They may not have any legal obligation to respond but you never know.

Thank for the replies. I contacted Valley-Dynamo in hopes that maybe they can help me out with the problem. It is primarily the two defense rods, which seems to be more common.

I was wondering how come the coin-op tables are preferred? Is it because of how much larger/stronger they are? So far this Classic model seems to be a nice table for my basement, and the $450 sounded better than the $1,399 they are new  :)
