We held a Goalie Wars Tournament on the two Tornado ITSF Certified prototype tables.  It was so much fun, I have a hard time describing it.  We played a single elimination Goalie's Delight tournament.  To enter you had to answer a questionnaire on the two ITSF Certified tables and the changes made to them. The rules where:
1 game - 1st to 3 wins.
Banks are worth 1 point
Straights are worth ½ point (The Jonny Lott Rule)
Stuffs are worth 2 Points ( The Carlos Rule)
Goalie’s Delight  (Ball goes back to the person who scored last)
Single elimination.

We saw some monster bank shots by Jack Lenty who defeated Jeep.  Paul Rhines while getting some real good video was Soundly defeated and was last seen walking away mumbling and looking about where he had left his shot.   Phil Schlaefer was a monster hammering banks to both walls,  but in the end it was Carlos (This week in Foosball ) Hernandez who defeated Schlaefer in a heated match and was crowned THE FIRST EVER that I know of TORNADO BANK SHOT CHAMPION.

I want to thank Scott Ferrell for suggesting that we have a tournament on the prototype tables and who got to drunk to play.  Also, I want to thank Rod-Lock.com Brad Laurine for donating a pair of locks won by Mike Gentgen, and The Rules of Foosball DVD won by Mike Seirra.

If the prototype tables are at the US-Open or Texas State, I am going to try to do this again, but next time I am going to play.  So all you old decrepped TS players, you better bring your A Game because none of you impressed me much and I am going to Dominate you!!!

PS.  I bet I know what the next "This week in Foosball Video" will be about!!!

Paul Rines shot some video, but I am not sure how he plans on distributing it.  You can really do bank shots on these tables well.  There were two prototypes, one a 3-man goalie and the other a single 1-man goalie.  The majority liked the 3-man goalie better.  Bank shots are blocked easier on the 3-man goalie as well.  I ran the tournament and watched the matches and found there was just as much crap-shots and slop the went in on the 1-man goalie as the 3-man.  I also noticed that more stray balls got past the 1-man goalies 2-rod than did on the 3-man goalies 2-rod, which to me means that forwards will get more shots on goal on the 1-man goalie than the 3-man goalie.  Even if less slop goes in on the 1-man goalie (which isn't true), the opposing forward is going to get more possessions which will nullify any gains on the slop factor.
From thumbing through the returned questionnaires, I picked up on a few things.  One of the items on the questionnaire that was 99.9% positive was the item that asked players to rate the over playing characteristics of the prototypes on a scale of 1 to 10.  However when asked about the single man goalie only about 25% of the respondents rated it positive.  Getting rid of the side strips was almost 100% positive, so I think that is a done deal.  The new ball was 90% negative with most writing in saying that it was too gripy and to slow.  You can do banks better with the harder ball than the proposed softer one.
I will post more later after I have had some sleep.
