a tourney director in charge of a tourney should uphold the rules and maintain integrity of the role of "tournament director" ,if he/she decides to play in the tourney he/she directs.  there is rules regarding "tournament director" in the new ITSF rules ,pertaining to the "powers" of tournament director

30. Tournament Director The administration of tournament play shall be the responsibility of the Tournament Director. This includes making the draws, scheduling the events, timing matches, etc. The decision of the Tournament Director in such matters is final.

Well said and point taken. However I would rather play in an event where the conflict of interest does not decide the outcome. As Chuck Heston said, when you lose, act like you like it. When you win, act like you are used to it.

How can anyone not think that the OP got cheated?

Three open tables, one table that gives an unfair advantage, yet the game is played on the damaged table? That's unfair anyway you slice it.
