On Tornado:

The rules for passing from the 5-bar to the 3-bar are as follows:
1. You cannot pass a stopped ball.  It must be moved from one man to another before being passed.
2. Once you've touched a ball with the front or back of a man (pinned or not), you cannot pass it with the front or back of the same man (unless you touch another man in between).  HOWEVER, the first time you touch the ball on the 5-rod doesn't count for this part 2 (so if you block an opponents' pass, you can hit it to your 3-rod immediately with the same man).
3. It's perfectly legal to shoot a stopped ball (or pinned or whatever) without touching another man, moving it, whatever.
4. Once you have the ball on your 5-man, it cannot touch the wall more than 2 times before you pass it (if it hits the wall a 3rd time during the pass that's okay, but you couldn't do a bump-off-the-wall pass after already having touched 2 walls)

Anything you catch or control (e.g. a drive-by or turbo on the 3-rod) with the 3-rod is considered a pass and has to follow the passing rules.  But if you just whack the ball and it tips off the 3-rod into the goal (and the 3-rod never actively swung at the ball or anything) then that's a shot.

The rules for passing from the 2-bar to the 5-bar are the same except:
a) Rule #4 doesn't exist on the 2-bar, you can touch the wall as many times as wanted.
b) If the ball touches the opponents' 3-rod then all the rules go away (you can legally catch it on the 5-bar).  This is different from the 5- to 3- bar rules; if an illegal pass is touched by the opponents' 5-bar, it remains illegal to catch it on your 3-bar.

He stops and waits with the ball next to the 2nd man on his 5-bar.  Then he either moves the ball very slightly with that man and hits it straight into the lane with the first man, or he moves it over to the wall with the 2nd man and hits it along the wall with the first man.

In either case, he touches the ball with 2 men after it stops, so it's okay.

Last time someone passed from the 5-man on a stopped ball, it was the opposing team, I called it and our side got the ball.
