Fairbanks Foosball
« on: September 14, 2008, 03:24:49 PM »
I had the opportunity this past week to hit Fairbanks and check out the foosball.  I discovered tables at:

Red Fox (Toronado)
Marlin (Toronado)
Woods Center (on campus, Dynamo)
RJ's (Dynamo)
Club Manchu (Toronado)

and there was another place and I just can't recall the name of it now.  It had one of the better Toronados.  I would also recommend Club Manchu.  There seemed to be willing players at RJ's as well.  Red Fox's table needs maintenance.  Marlin's could use a light.  The Woods Center had only 1 ball and it was plastic and creased, so near impossible to play.

It seemed to me that there were people who would play weekly tournaments in Fairbanks if someone would step up to the plate to run them.  Any takers out there in Fairbanks?  Some of the entry fee money could be kept by the one running the tournament for added incentive to run them.

All in all, I really enjoyed myself playing foosball in Fairbanks.  I think the best player I ran across was Kristin.  (Hope I'm spelling that right.)  She knew how to pass and she knew how to shoot, and she had a wonderful attitude.

Thanks, Fairbanks!

Lots of Foosball players in Fairbanks.  Even Old Schoolers like me over 50 years old.  Don't do the bar scene anymore, I leave that to the  youngsters but I know people that would LOVE to play.  Just might drum up a Female partner and visit your tournament.  Mixed Doubles over 50 crowd!  Woo Hoo!

GAK!   (where did I put my nitro pills?)

Hey, Alaskagoldman!

Over 50?  LOL!  Many of us are close to that age at this point.  Got some younger people finally coming in, tho.

If you know people who would love to play, get 'em going!  We'd love to see some Fairbanks folks come down and join us.

If you can find Kristin, she was the best player I found while in Fairbanks.  She'd make a great partner for anyeone.

This is very interesting.  I just moved to Fairbanks in Sept. I was only looking on this forum to research the Brunswick tables and was getting ready to go to Arctic Spas and possibly buy a new table, and I just spotted this post at the bottom of the forum. Good to see there are foosball people here!

UPDATE:

I just finished putting my brand new Tornado together. Wow, talk about smoothness. Anyone down in Fairbanks wanna hang out and  game some time, pm me. I play pretty well; looking for someone who might like to practice up for some team play.

Well, welcome, guys!

It's so good to know there's some foosers in Fairbanks!

Hope you can make it down to Anchorage some time to play, and most hopefully for the State in March.  I'm working on getting some things together to make any such trip for you guys easier.

Obviously only some. This part of the forum is pretty dead.

I have taken a break from foosball recently, so I apologize.  As for the other foosers, I think they're more into foosing than writing messages.   :-\

I will be getting back to you with info if you'd care to make it down for the state, however.

If you want to come down for the state, the nearest hotel is just down the block at the Ramada Inn.  There's plenty of restaurants on the block, too.  Arby's, Taco Bell, hamburger and chinese food places, etc.

This is the link I used to find the Ramada Inn, and you can click it to find out rates.  You may want to call ahead of time and see if they'll give you a discount should you have enough players:  http://www.eztrip.com/Alaska/AK/Anchorage/Ramada-Limited-Anchorage/EZ27245.html.
