Well, my first post. I played a lot back in the day (late 70's) and I have a premier table I had in storage for a long time, and I just pulled it out and reassembled it so I could play with my son. I know this is a Tornado forum, but I really like my Premier, it is clean and fast and I just got some Tornado balls for it and they handle fantastic.
Luckily for me with reassembly, when it was put in storage the handles were left on the rods, so when I put it back together I didn't have to think about which end of the rod the handle goes on, because as this post shows, and after checking my table, you can get it wrong easily.
With an informal look at my table, I can see that the handle end of the rods have at least 6 inches or more additional length to them on the handle side, measuring from the end of the rod to the first hole. When the rod is fully pushed in, there is at least an inch or two of space between the fully pushed on handle and the side of the table (i.e. the handle doesn't come close to hitting the table). I hope that makes sense.
So, I vote for these being backwards, i.e. the handle is on the wrong end of the rod. If you look at the two man in the above pic, the rubber bumper is not even pushed up against the man, leading me to believe you have the problem not only on the goalie but also (at least) on that two man, as it looks like you can't even push that one all the way over either.
I will say that the 3 rods all look identical on mine, so I don't think it is a problem of having the goalie rod with the three holes being different then the three man rod.
Hope that helps.
Bob
