a few advice on renovating an old Rene Pierre
« on: April 13, 2013, 02:49:24 PM »
I just bought an old Rene Pierre foosball table (I found it on this forum. Now, I would like to renovate it a bit but I have not much experience, and I am not a hands-on type of guy.

Question 1: It smells a bit moldy. What is the best way to fix that ? I am thinking bleach is a bad idea
Question 2: Even though the rods seem to be straight, they are probably rusty because it feels sticky when I try to move the rod back and forth. Again, what would be the best way to fix this?

I have read the post from the other person renovating his 1974 bonzini. I will try the aluminum foam to clean up the goalee. Any advice would be appreciated
Thank you

Take the rods out, clean the bearings, and something that really makes a difference is to clean the inside of the rods using a gun cleaner. I don't remember what the stuff is called, but what ever it is, it works great. Wrap some gauze around the wire brushes of the gun cleaner, dip it in what ever that stuff is that they use to clean guns and clean out all the dirt and grime inside the rods. You can use the same stuff to scrub the inner rods. Good luck.
