Help!!! 3 questions!
« on: February 08, 2015, 02:56:13 AM »
Hi, I would appreciate if you can help.

I spent 5-6 hours on research so far.

1) I am looking for a good table for home use. (I have an entry level table which is not good) I am planning keeping it for at least 5-10 years.

Options (with best prices)
a) Tornado T3000 (non-coin):  1700$ shipped (or 1850$ coin)
b) Garlando Master Champion: 1375$ shipped
c) Garlando G-5000 Wenge:     1295 $ shipped
d) Garlando G500 Evolution:     925 $ shipped
e) Garlando G5000 Evolution:  1225 $ shipped
f)  Warrior:                                 725$ shipped (even though this looks like a very good entry level table, I don't think it will last long time. I probably will not get this)

2) Is Tornado clearly better? Any reason to chose one of the Garlando's?
3) 3 men vs 1 men? (if T3000- both options seem to be available)
4) Is coin-op worth paying 150$ more (if I am not planning selling it in near future?)
5) kids: ages 5,6,10. is the safety (telescopic rods) of Garlando rods make a significant difference ?

thanks!

I think most people here would suggest a split cabinet tornado coin or tp.  It's all about having a good standard table and resale value.

My response would be are you italian, who is the table for, what is the goal with buying it?

Are you a proud italian?... I love bank shots and the garlando beveled playfield wall... well you couldn't make me play it.  It is too different for my tastes.  But then again everyone loves their playing styles...

If the table is for you, and you wish to compete, or just try your hand at US competitive foosball moves, go tornado.  Most players play tornado.  All touring US tournament players play tornado. http://schedule.foosball.com/index.htm

If you want a best value table to foster foosball consider the warrior.  It is designed and marketed for your circumstances.  It is a fully capable table with no limits relative to it's midrange peers.  If the kids lose interests your depreciation losses will be minimal.  If they break it, parts are cheap. If you want to use it part time, the rods pop out.  Has rod guards... but I suspect they are a flimsy gimmick.

You could also consider the sureshot/fireball designs, or the shelti designs, if you wish to go outside the box a bit.   Both have good top tier offerings... I'm a big fireball fan myself, but find myself constantly having to adapt a tiny bit to play tornado with everyone else.

One man to three man... doesn't really matter to me... love both, but 3 man is the US way now.
coin doesn't really matter, but can imply commercial durability and expand resale market.  ball return can be awkward unless you stuff the goals
Rod accidents will happen on both sides, with kids and adults alike...  however, I dislike telescopic purely based on feel but it has advantages

With that thought I found this interesting: http://www.bonziniusa.com/documents/FrenchvsGermanR2.txt

Thanks! Very important information.

I hear Warriror needs a lot of repairs. Isn't that correct?
Cyclone II has good reviews, but I can't find a new one I guess.
Any one sells new TP for a good price?
I need to check fireball, i do not know much about it.
thanks

Warrior is likely chinese manufacturing, but they are excellent for speedy repairs and corrections if anything is wrong.  Parts are cheap...I want one for a number of reasons.  You have kids... a good choice in a midrange table...

I believe the cyclone II has been replaced or renamed to the tornado elite.. a respectable table and great choice for home use.

TP3ks can be found at tournaments at a discount (almost new and setup for assessment).  The used market occasionally has good coin tables come up periodically in larger cities.  You will pay between $400 and $1000 USD.  Do your homework... but used allows you to save time and money if it is setup and to your liking.  Your offer or price is based on any upgrades or repairs the table needs and the reputation / manufacturing flaws it has.

Fireball is pretty good, a bit awkward to source and get parts for at this time.  Close to tornado but better in some ways.  Extremely popular in asia and somewhat in europe.  I suspect they will be back, right now performance games shureshot coin is the closest to a fireball you'll get commercially in north america.
