TS Browntop oldy but a goody

I am a newbie here and wanted to thank you all for putting so much info on this site.  I've been trolling for a couple weeks and now I wanted to share.

I literally forgot about playing foos since my 20's.   My little girl is turning 14 and instead of taking her friends out for her bday she requests that I get a foosball table for the basement and she wants her party at home.   I look at CL and ebay for used tables.  I then go on your foos forum to see what gives.   I discover a good table is heavy and most are in basements.   I then begin searching for a ground level easy to move table as I don't want to repaint someones hallway.   I look everyday and 1 pops up in chi town.  It is a browntop TS.   The outside is pretty worn.  I call the owner he says he recently lent it to a hipster friend who brought it to the office.    There it got new men and bumpers and removed the laminate from the solid legs which they stained brown.  The friend returned it to him and it is in the garage  so I picked it up for $100.   I cleaned it up  and made  minor repairs and invited my friends over.  It played decent for a old table.  I like the solid rods and the corner transitions are smooth. My daughter actually loves it because it is "vintage"  I was curious about the year and model of it because of the 2 and 1 bolt pattern on the legs.   Looking at other  pics I saw a lot of 2 and 2 bolts on legs.  Found a brochure with it and  the model of TS-14L but no date.   Anyone have an idea of the year.  79,80,81  I'll post pics in my next post from my phone as that is all it is good for.
Thx

Shawn

Hello Shawn,

Nice looking Home Model table, sometimes you can get lucky and find a TS stamp somewhere on the table that also includes a date stamp otherwise the best I can do is say it is from the 1978 - 1981 era.  The brown tops were the last model tables that were produced by the original Tournament Soccer, run by Lee Peppard. In 1981 they went out of business and were sold to another company at which point they changed to Black Tops which in my opinion were not as well made as the original ones.  The original men were the Tournament Soccer 1978 branded Tan and Yellow men and the original bumpers were smooth with metal and plastic washers on either side. (metal washer between the bumpers and the men and the plastic washers between the bumpers and the side walls)  I hope this helps.
