Cyclone vs Cyclone II?
« on: August 13, 2006, 01:57:49 PM »
I'm curious if anyone can tell me the difference between the Tornado Cyclone and the Tornado Cyclone II?  I have the opportunity to buy a used Cyclone, but I'm not sure how it differs from the more common Cyclone II.  Should I hold out for the II or will I be just as happy with the original?

Thanks!

Check and see if it has hexagon split bearings, go with that model. You can change these out much easier and usually is found on better quality tables.

I'm going to bet that the overall construction of the Cyclone is better than the Cyclone II. They are trying to make things cheaper now. Does the table your looking at have the solid wood corners? The Cyclone II has the plastic down corners, and the plastic caps at all 4 corners. (Which if bumped hard enough come off) I know......cause I have a Cyclone II. I got a scratch and dent Cyclone II with a very badly damaged down corner, and cap. I did manage to repair it, but when I was looking at the overall construction of the cabinet as I was repairing it, I wasn't very impressed with Tornados quality. Don't get me wrong. I wouldn't trade the table for anything. It plays great, and I am very happy with it. It just seems like if this is the best table in the world, you would think they would be put together with more than just glue and staples....  I'm sure you will be happy with either table. Find out if it has counter balanced men, the larger diameter rods, and the split bearings. Thats really all that matters. The Cyclone probably has solid wood legs as well. The Cyclone II has solid 4x4 plastic or pvc legs.... Which is probably cheaper to manufacture, and less prone to warp if near humidity.

Hope this helps. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.....

I was curious myself so I emailed Valley. Here is their offical response......

I assume you are inquiring about a Cyclone table that would have been
manufactured in the late 1990's?

The cabinet on the Cyclone II table has rounded down corners and top
corners vs the Cyclone which did not.
