What would be the best configuration

I touched on this on my other thread but I think it deserves a thread of it's own. Imagine a tournament where each player had their own bar and men with the handles, men and bar of his choice. Instead of the manufacturers determining what you shot, you would. A fast mounting system could easily be figured out for the men and maybe even make the men adjustable with replaceable feet of different types and length. Maybe the tables could be made for a 'drop in' installation for the bars which already had the bushings or bearings installed. Yeah I know I'm a dreamer, how do you think I came up with all those weird shots while growing up in the frozen tundra? We sure didn't have the internet to talk about it. I could see where the manufacturers might explore this idea as it creates a whole lot of new products and ends all the moaning about limited playability of this table or that. Foosball would finally come into it's own where the players would take it to the next level, not the designers of the table.

I think its a very cool idea.......But you have to admit that the loser regardless would make some sort of excuse because i think the different tables use different balls and surfaces that allow them to do their signature moves and shots etc........I too get frustrated about the arguments of the different tables and would love a table that was official all around the world.....keep dreaming...but god idea..

I think the ball would have to be standard as would the surface. But if you had top loading rods with their own bushings you could adjust height of the rod thus man length could also be controlled. ::) With that much control over the feel and shot availability I don't think anyone could blame it on anything but themselves and their preferences and skill. One thing for sure is the most effective set-up would emerge in time. It's a dream, sure, but maybe not so far out of an idea. Pool players all have their own sticks, bowlers their own ball, baseball players their own bat,,,. Wouldn't it be fun to watch the top players compete against each other set up so they each play on their favorite table?

What you need is adjustable features on the foosball table.  That way you can just dial closer to the table, or fluff out the handle without unbolting, dismantling, unhooking, etc.  Just push a button or flip a switch.

I thought that the housing for the rod could slip into  reinforced slots in the table and be locked in. These housings would have your bearing/bushings plus adjustments for height. You walk up with your killer weapon and slip it in and lock it down. 8)
