Topic: Clear Acrylic Table any good?

Hi I have been eye-ing this table for a while and tried to buy more than once, but it always shows as "out of stock".  any1 know if this table is any good?  where can I actually buy this?

that table does actually look pretty sweet, but the thing is... it will probably last you a couple of months if you play it hard. If you are just looking for something the mess around on and not really get serious into foos, I wouldnt pay more than $150-200 bucks for that thing.

I would just save up and get a used Tornado

for some reason I think it will be a great table due to the fact that acrylic & glass do not flex and absorb water like wood does.  my only fear is the glass surface may be too slick.  but finding this table for sale seems to be a challenge in itself.

There is good reason to buy a tornado table. Trust me 95% of other tables play like crap. Buy the right table in the first place and you wont have to sell the one you just bought when you realize the ball doesn't even roll straight.

But the table would look pretty cool in the dark with the underlight on.  The table actually looks pretty sturdy (from the picture and description).  I didn't recall if the playing surface was smooth glass or textured glass, but if it is smooth glass, a softer ball could help with that ( new soft urethane Bonzini ball).  I would be more concerned with the rod and bearing combination, the bearings aren't described at all and the rods are described as "commercial grade", usually meaning that they are solid steel rods.  But for recreational use, it may be a decent table.

I just happened to stumble onto this page while searching for spare parts for my table.

I have one of these foosball tables and can tell you some more information.

First, the table is extremely well-built.
It is very heavy so aggressive play will not move the table at all. 
Everything seems to be overbuilt.  Lots of fasteners but all countersunk.
Tabletop is smooth glass and has a lifetime warranty against breakage.
Goals have a metal plate so when you score it makes a ping sound. (Very cool after you get used to it)
Don't know much about the bearings but the rods are solid, move fluidly and quickly.

The only con I have is sometimes the men do not want to stay pointed down, so either I have bent a rod or the men were unbalanced.



Now for the bad news for you.  The table was made by Classic Sports under several models and numbers.  www.classicsport.com

But they were bought by Sportcraft and these tables were dropped from production.  I have emailed them about purchasing spare parts but they insist that they have none and no plans to reintroduce the table.  (Nothing has broken in over a year of hard recreational (read drunkards) use.)  But knowing that the table is not in production I would like to have a few parts to keep it alive if a part should fail.


I searched for this table for a long time and tried like you to order from competitive edge products many times.  I finally found one in Craigslist in my state.  The one I have was a giveaway from a beer company to the guy I bought it from.  I was lucky and bought this new in box for $500.

I hardly ever use the lights and was looking for one without to begin with.  When it is dark and you only use the lights it makes gameplay much different and more difficult in many respects.

If you can find one of these new or used, I would not hesitate in buying it.  It is a very well-made table and will impress even non-players when they see it.

Don't know what type of balls, the table came with 4 and they still play very well.  I tried some of the black and white soccer balls and hated them, so they are gone.



The men are what I believe are called Robot?






I can't find them now, but I have seen videos of one of these tables on youtube with the backlight on and a game being played.  I also remembered that the beer company that gave these away was Icehouse.  You might want to contact them and see if there is one left in storage or unclaimed.

redterror, I will try to hunt down the vids on youtube and post links.  When it gets dark here I will dig out an extension cord and light mine up and take a few more pics.

On the pic of the men, closest to the table is a plastic washer then a rubber absorber and a steel painted washer directly next to the man.

I forgot, I also don't know what years these were made or for how long.  I purchased this one last spring, just got lucky and the first time I searched Craiglist there was one in Maine.  Took a full day of driving to pick it up and get back.

The table in the video is nicer than mine, it seems to have lots of little led's which my table lacks.  My table has 3 flourescent bulbs mounted on a thin piece of wood about 4 inches below the glass surface.

Thanks for the interest in the table, as I said before, anyone that sees it is interested in playing.  It stands apart from regular foosball tables.  I wish that Icehouse had added advertising to the table to make it stand out even more.
