Does anyone still play for money out there? If so what are the stakes? This is strictly an informational question and no illegal gambling is proposed or advised.

Yes, but not usually large stakes locally.  usually in the $1-$5 per man per game range.  But that can quickly escalate with the double-or-nothins.  The amounts really depend on peoples moods after a local tourny, but there are almost always small money matches after every local tourny here (Maryland).
Of course this is all theoretical, because gambling on foosball is illegal ;)

Pat - Is there a guy named Phil Laing that plays up there? He used to play down in FLorida a few years back. I heard he moved up there but never heard from him.

I heard he is in the area, but I haven't seen him out and about for foosball in a couple of years.

Welp, we have Florida state Tornado coming up in October. 5 grand I believe. Nothing huge but this is kind of a re-building phase for Fl foos. You can check it out at WWW.netfoos.com

Speaking of cash games, Terry and Tommy played Johnny H. and Brendan F. for $1000 3/5 in the pits @ the US Open. The entire room basically stopped to watch the grudge match. It was sweet, I imagine that it how foos used to be back in the day.

I heard Johnny and Brendan won. I guess he's still got it when the cash is on the line.

I just watched it on this week in foos  - Dude Johnny's pull looked about as good as it gets during that match. He was taking Terry's up away too, which almost never happens. I almost call shenanigans on that match but Johnny's shot looked friggin awesome either way.

It's good to hear somebody out there still plays for money. What's the highest wager per ball anyones ever played? Say $10 or ? A hundred a ball? A thousand?

First all, never blame your partner.  It could have been his partner or it could have been the other teams fault.

Stop putting pressure on yourself.  Approach it like gambling in a casino.  Don't bet the mortgage if you can't afford to lose it.

I used to like playing Steve Murray and Kevin Keeter in $1 games before a tournament.  Nobody was going to go broke and since Kevin was a good friend, I looked at it as sponsoring Kevin's punch money.  (the tables were not on free play at that time).  I didn't mind losing because I knew I was going to get into his ice chest later.
