Foosball Not on ESPN
« on: October 09, 2005, 01:37:33 PM »
i was watching ESPN last sunday at about 2 in the afternoon and they had the National Scrabble Championships on ESPN! now my question is if pool, Hold 'Em poker, and SCRABBLE of all things are on ESPN, why is it that Foosball isnt? i dont understand how cards and a board game are more of a sport than foosball. if pool is on a sports network then why not foosball? its just as much of a bar game. i figure that Worlds could be broadcasted on ESPN.

ive also seen the worlds juggling competition on ESPN. we need some tevevised Foosball. it would bring more people to the game i believe.

anyone else know why foosball isnt on tv?

The same reason that the payouts have not increased, If you have people that hurt the sport it will not grow.So remember when the lime light is on please be professional and we just may get to grow the way we all would like to see.

A long time ago I was told it would be to dificult to put on camera (20 years ago), but,
now that cameras are smaller that should not be the problem! They also said the action was to fast  ???
But, with slow motion and instant replay that is no problem! It can't be actions by players
every sport has some "unprofessional reactions" (and actions)!  :o I agree it's about time for a real
sport that can be played by anyone to be given a chance, after all it is a sport played world wide! ;D
Perhaps some of the organizations should start a monolog with ESPN  ??? They are the ones
who should do it! ;D Sorry, just my 2 cents worth  ::)

As far as camera footage that is no problem. If you have ever watched any of the worlds video's and cd's you will agree. I think the biggest hurdle is that there is not a standard table for all of foosball, to many different types of tables that are played on world wide in tournaments. All of pool world wide is played on the same table, not so with foosball.
