At least they are trying to make some changes, i'm not sure if warrior had anything to do with it but they seem to have customer service actually coming into the business plan.

they had started before Warrior was public but it is driven by a desire to have Euro sales...they act like they are making the changes because of and for our players but it was all a way of getting the Euro changes in...they wouldn't want to make an America version and a Euro version

now, I am glad for the changes and have asked about them before but I was FOR SURE in the minority getting blasted any time I brought up the changes I thought should be made (all of which are being implemented here by the way  :P 8) >:( ;D

anyway, it will turn out better for US players if they keep at it and do it right (and completely) but that is only relevant if they have a compelling tour...as it is right now, they only have 2 tournaments a year and Warrior with Mary and IFP are going to do a couple dozen all over the country and they have plans for all kinds of great promotions so if they deliver on their promises and improvements of the first run table, Tornado is dead in the US, it just hasn't fallen over yet

but, if T decides to fight back and puts some serious effort into US promotion, they could do some serious good

competition is great isn't it?

They did implement a lot of your changes! good work. I would still like to test the idea of having a flat surface on the front of a tornado man for back-pin's.

I purchased a T-2000 Tournament USED table, stainless steel, from Charles MacIntosh of Tornado.com in APril of 2008.  Does anybody know if I would be eligible for the DISCOUNTED price conversion kit?  I am curious because I bought a used table and I am wondering if this somehow affects the eligibility,(i.e., it only applies to tables purchased new).  Or, if the table purchase date for me is April, 2008, but the original new purchase date was, obviously, sometime prior to that, and I can't provide the invoice for when it was purchased new.  I have never done business with Valley-Dynamo, so I am curious as to anyone's experience with their business practices.  Some companies are sticklers about re-sales (voids warranty).

Ask Charles for a receipt and I'm sure they will give you the discount if you have that.

Hopefully I can get some pics up of the new table. If I don't go to La. state I will for sure have some to put up. If I go to state, hopefully they will have some set up Thursday night to take pics of to post.

And yes, those are some really RED balls. I like them however. It seems to support all styles of play.

Wrong.... from the other threads on the other board, it seems obvious that the changes are to promote easier homologation and increased acceptance of the Tornado as a "world" table. Valley Customer Service?  Are you nuts?  Isn't that phrase in the thesaurus the same as "oxymoron" ?  They haven't listened to the players for a decade, so why would they do that now?   :o

translation: Farid and his French and other ITSF counterparts are just convincing Valley and Tornado that the stable play for the last 2 decades initiated by McCloud is typical "silly" American engineering, which is supposed to be dead.  Americans are stupid and they need to change their ways, because they can't even make their own radios, TV's, and cars anymore.  This is just another service economy, and Americans should be making tables the "right" way, so any visitor can come in and win as easily as all the stupid Americans.  This Euro and Japanese mindset still lingers, starting 30 years ago when one Frenchman said to his buddy in Evian, France: Mon ami, I bet we could sell water to these stoopeed Americaines!  Yes! Water!  And the rest is history.   And the Japanese tourist at the next table overheard this while discussing the next great american food: Tuna at 20 times the price!  Just don't cook the damn thing !! Banzai!!  Their businessmen think all Americans are name Mikey!!  8)

**note** This group does not include Rico and many great players; They have seen the style of American play for what it is: another great style to be appreciated and adjusted to.   They enjoy watching international golf at many radically different courses, like the Ryder Cup, and follow tennis at the Australian, French, Wimbledon and US Opens.  They do not see anything wrong in the completely different styles of play and surfaces between countries.  It brings out the best among the best players of the world.

all these changes in foosball are Friad led but where is the great American leader who could have done all this?

he has a vision and a plan which is going to be naturally prejudice to his mindset, even if he doesn't want it to be

too late to complain now, we already left the gate open and the horses are running free

if we (the US) want something different, then someone step up or shut up

well, that is kind of harsh but you get the idea...right now, throwing stones and calling names is just sour grapes...we got punked by a better lead with a better vision...now all we can do is join the Borg and try and effect change within the system or start a new and competing Borg

maybe that person is out there but if so, they are still unknown and hidden

So to bring my blonde around to current specs (besides the wingers, of course) I have to buy all new men, bearings, and balls? Or will they only sell them all together as a full kit with the handles and scoring markers?

wildcard,

who knows and what about the side strips...based on something I read from EdGeer on the other board, it sounds like the new table is going to go without strips - he said,

"and the double sided laminate surface stays flat like I know it will"

I think this in reference to what they did in removing the strip on the test tables but I could be wrong

if they don't remove the strips, I will be disappointed, if they do, it will be a HUGH hassle to replace them

on all the other stuff which has been clearly stated, Dave C talks about a package but who knows

since the adjustment to Warrior is so short, I am not too concerned either way

there will be some investment to make the changes but that is nothing compared to the cost of going to a tournament and I consider it just part of the hobbie/sport

a lot will depend on how these changes stack up with Warrior because that is where all significant (=big) tournaments will be outside Tornado's 2

We still have to deal with the side strips  :'(   Spirit is suppose to get the new tables this thursday.  The shape paddle changed just a little, and as Ice mentioned the ball is 20% softer.
