Speed of table/Ball

Quick question everyone, just purchased a tornado table and am using the red textured ball. As a newbie, it seems that the action is a little slow, i know that tornado tables are supposed to be the best, but there are a lot of times when the ball will stop rolling and be out of reach of any of the players and is in essance "dead". The red textured ball seems to be a little softer than what i've used before. All i want to know is if this is normal and allows for easier more percise control/setup for shots?

It's entirely possible that i've been playing on crap tables that are using balls that are like rocks, that are throwing off my line of thinking.

If you have the "brand new 5 hour tumbled ball" then yes you will see a noticeable difference between it and older style tornado balls. It should be a deeper red and easier to pin, brush pass. I am not a fan myself but what do i know.

yes, what you are experience, the new redder ball or the older pink ball have the characteristics you describe so it is probably that you played with hard slick rocket balls...don't worry, you will adjust and not very long from now you will be make em disappear

good to know they roll and CAN stop...some cheap tables are not level and the balls are hard and slick and the table surface is hard so that the ball rarely stops

you will have balls stop out of reach here and there and that will always happen but it will happen less and less as time goes on

Okay great... that's the answer I was hoping for and was afraid that it had something to do with the table playing surface.  Thanks for the reassurance!

washed up,

no video like this available that I have ever heard or seen tell and I am a video junkie...how about I tell you what I saw at the 1977 worlds when Todd won his first, would that help :P

anthony (tony),
washed up is just talking about improving...I came out of the same school of thought as he grew up in and I 100% agree on making ball control an significant part of your learning...i won't say more than this unless you have interest and are ready to put some time into practice...here are a couple threads on the basics if you are interested

skip anything that i posted about me, it is not helpful, but a few early posts and the last post on the first page and following starting with TODD LOFFREDO ON PRACTICE PART 1

if you are just a recreational player and that is all you want to be, which is good and very okay, this will be way too much information...if that is the case but you still want to get better a little faster, say something here and we will throw a few ideas at you

I guess you can say I have recently become addicted to foosball, haha.  I want to get better and learn some more of the skillful things (ball control, shots, and passes) that are needed.  I can hold my own against any of the recreational players that I have played, but that being said, I want to get much better.  So any and all of the advice you guys have is much appreciated.  I know it takes time and it's not going to happen overnight so to speak.

Thanks for the link bbtuna, I'll definately take a look at it.
