Possible Warrior Table Purchase...
« on: March 14, 2010, 04:16:18 AM »
I have the opportunity to buy a tourney used/won Warrior table locally.

Can someone walk me through what sorts of things I need to look for before purchasing (ie bent rods, warped table, blown goal, etc...)?  Are there different models and/or variations year to year?  Also suggested used prices, which I'm sure vary with condition...but if you could grade from good - great - to mint/like new condition or something.  Other than the cost of a new table, I have no idea what a used Warrior table might go for.  Thanks.

Jin- I payed 250.00 for mine. Warrior only has one model right now so they are all the same. Look for ball return issue problems and the bearings are kind of weak other than that my Tornado eats parts 5-1 over the Warrior The solid rods are virtually unbendable. Cool table expect to pay between 300-500. You will be surprised just how different it plays next to yor Coin-Op Tornado. Good Luck.  Snake

So I could get a new tourney won table for like $250?  That is extremely affordable...what is keeping the cost so low?

My luck, I buy one and then an updated version comes out...but then again I'm not out that much either...

they were all given away and the build quality wasn't there and people started letting them go for less and less...started around 400 but dropped to 300 and less within a few tournaments...especially if someone won more than one and you were at that tournament and they could walk with a few hundred and not have to pay shipping of 150

i have a friend here in town that got his, brand new from tourny because he had a truck and cash, for 150

anyway, its a preceived value...they are a steal even with their build quality issues because they are a lot of fun to play on and if you are a little handy, all the issues that come up can be made better with a small amount of work

They have been improving the model consistently though, we can say it is still the same... but really it has been changed a lot.

The one used at the Kentucky state debut had several defects that have been improved upon, including new men and new side strips. The brackets under the playing surface, the type of screws used in almost every application... Still not as strong as tornado (or even close) but much better than originally.

When is the latest version coming out with the latest hollow rod update?  Hopefully they are heat-treated and Merkel-rod like.

This probably will not bode well for resale value on all those with the older solid rod tables...I wonder how much it will cost to replace the rods?

ok, on 3/20 Mary said,

I am going to change to a better rod, this is my players number one complaint. I too after playing more than two events hurt after playing all weekend. But I have only been playing two events until lately so I did not see that the rods were such a problem.

changing rods will cost 30-40 EACH which is 240 to 320....big time outlay if you already own a solid rod Warrior

Ok finally got to see a few Warrior tables that were for sale in my area...  The quality and craftsmanship is no where near what a Tornado is.  1 table I looked at had a nice size 1/2" chip on the pull side goalie, and the 2nd table had some cracking on both sides of the goalie.  The laminate or whatever is protecting the wood is really thin, and the wood looked like some pressed wood Vs. solid mdf.

I have to admit I did like the ball control, but these are disposable tables not meant for long term use.  It would appear as though the table could be easily fixed and upgraded, but personally I have way too many projects and other hobbies to be messing with stuff like that.  I hope Warrior starts manufacturing a more robust table...but until then I'll just have to stick with my Tornado's.  What a disapointment...

Is there a tourney on this table?    We would need to buy one if there is a tourney on it.

On the Warrior, I think Mary was replacing defective parts at one time, not sure if that is still going on.   Does the tables you are looking at have tornado bumpers on the 3 and 5 rods?  The ones at the tourneys do,  side strips have been changed,    I am not sure if the men have been changed out or not.
