Which Tornado model do I have?
« on: July 20, 2010, 08:09:32 PM »
Hi,
I have a Tornado foosball table that I bought used in 2005. I'm getting ready to sell it, and I'm not 100% sure which model it is. The only markings on it are Tornado on the playing field, a sticker with Tornado patent numbers, and the serial number on the inside: 028060000-10297. Is that enough information, with the picture below, for someone out there to be able to tell me which model this is? I'm trying to figure out how to price it and what to call it before I list it on craigslist.org.

Thank you,
Dan

It looks like the cabinet that my old cyclone II had but I see it is a split cabinet. A fellow fooser friend of mine claims he has a cyclone II with a split cabinet but I have seen tuna on this forum state that there are no cyclone II's with split cabinets. I'm sure he will weigh in on this soon.

as Snake Eyes says, its a blond...if he has a split cabinet then it is a T2000 which is better than a cyclone...Tor makes the coin op without the coin op mechanism...same table exactly in every way except when they build it, they leave the coin op out...the coin op weighs a few more pounds, the difference of course is the coin op/coin box added

goes in order oldest to newest...each of these had a coin and non coin split top sharing the same T2000 or T3000 model assignment...until now (see below)

T2000 Brown Marble
T2000 Blond
T2000 Cherry
T2000 Grey Marble Anniversary
T2000 Grey Marble
T2000 Fridge several iterations leading to the T3000
T3000 Fridge with all the changes which now the call the coin up the Platinum Tour Edition and the "home" model the T3000

jumafish...is this a coin op?  On Craig's list you should call it a T2000 ("T" stands for Tournament) coin op or Split Top depending if it is a coin op or not

How much...Well, you might want to start at $599 OBO and expect to get $450 to $550, give or take a little...you can start asking more but I would bet $100 you wouldn't sell it...but if you aren't in a hurry, you could start higher and see what happens, just don't expect much...people list the Blond, and others, on eBay all the time for much higher and they NEVER sell...

Manufactures Sug Retail on the tables at that time was around $1600, most actually sell brand new for $1200-$1400...tournament used between $1050-$1175 (all these not including shipping)

depends on the market where you are at what kind, if any, response you will get...I have a friend who put his Grey Marble Anniversary model (much better version than the blond for those in the know), with the newest handles, bearings, and men added to it and all original men, handles, and bearings went with the table...he took great care of it and listed it for $700 and didn't even get a bite...ended up selling it to a local foos buddy for $600 and that was a really really good deal

the blond isn't worth anywhere near that in my opinion...still a good solid table that will last someone a lifetime if they take care of it

if you want a little more info, take a look at the first few pages of this

Thanks everyone. I also got a reply from Cathy Lauria at Valley Dynamo identifying my table as a T2000. I appreciate the help, and will be posting it on craigslist shortly (SF Bay Area).
