Name this shot

I do this back pin shot where you rock it in the middle and release it out to the side men and angle it in hard. The rocking hides the release and strike as it almost is the same motion but the ball ends up 1 1/2" away when it is struck in at an angle making it a deadman+. It's always good for a "wha!!??" and a nice option for a backpin reversal pull when I shoot it push side. Any way, I just wondered if anyone shoots it or knows what they call the shot. Otherwise I dub it the "Houdini" as it is a slight of hand type of thing,,, 8)

We just called it a 2-3.  It was a popular shot on American Table.  Plenty of options.  On American Table, the pull/push shot was only 1/2 point so a lot of the players developed different options looking for that one killer shot.  Front pins became the killer.  I might add that the goal on American went on forever making for some frustrating times for goalies.  Also, some players still shot 1/2 point pulls because they were nearly impossible to block.

I've been doing that shot for over 30 years and have never heard of a name for it. I call mine the Rattle Snake.

BartOFoos, I like that! You know, there is a certain scenario where I possibly might make the Bart O tourney. Everything has to work out right and it's a long shot but on the Fireball this shot works great! If I do we have to compare notes(and execution) on this shot.

OM, hope your able to make it, you will not be disappointed. I have a lot of success with that shot pretty much on any table, I learned it on the Champion table and yes it's much easier on Fireball. Would love to compare notes, I have several variations of that shot from back pin, front toe and tic tac positions.

LMAO!!!! Good one Brad. Think I'll start calling it the Eliminator. I rarely use that shot during tournament play, but when I do it's usually meat nut on a tough match point to close the deal after the goalie has blocked a few of my pulls.

I use to call this shot a pull-split or a push-split because usually you're hitting a hole between the men, but sometimes you might be going behind both men. I wasn't starting it with a backpin however, but I am currently doing everything from the backpin and I have used this shot, but I'm having trouble controlling the angle. Sometimes it angles and sometimes it goes straight. Any suggestions, or do I need to just keep hammering away until I find it? This shot is especially useful when defenders think they can leave the middle open against a backpin and just cover the corners.

Anderson, I set up rocking dead center, medium speed without hard down pressure. The 'toss' or release has a bit of energy added I guess but all the power is on the strike and beyond the last, dot angling in to the far hole. I will shoot it short if a reverse open defense is used as, like you noticed, it's a great split shot. But on the whole it is a finesse shot that doesn't seem to be happening until it is too late and it is smashed in at an angle. For me the pull side isn't as fluid or deceptive so I opt for a reversal pull or pull kick to the near side man. But coming off the rock as a release/toss in rhythm is a sweet shot.

Only OK?

Is that all you've got to say other than the links to the sleaze sites in your signature?

A good mod would take care of this.  (That's a hint Jim)
