Kevin and Jesse took 6th place in amateur doubles.  That's a real strong showing considering how many players are really better than their amateur rating.

Jesse and I played in open doubles together.  The format required us to qualify in a separate tournament with the top 32 teams advancing to the open.  We qualified undefeated.  The matches are best of 5.  The total field for the open was 64 teams with the other 32 teams being seeded as the best teams in the world.  Jessie and I drew Fredrico and Todd for our first match in the field of 64!  Then they moved our match to table 1 on the stage!  I started at goally with Jessie up front.  That didn't go so well and we lost our first game (5-2?).  We switched positions and everything changed.  We took the next game 5-1!  Fredrico and Todd switched positions (did we just chase off the best goally in the world?).  For the remainder of the match Fredrico and Todd would continue to change positions with Fredrico always at goally when it was my serve on the 5-bar.  We lost the next 2 games approximately 5-3 or 5-2 to end the match down 3-1.  We lost our next match and were finished.  It was hard to play after the last match.

Jesse played great at goally having to block both Fredrico and Todd at different times.  I'm sure he held them under 50%.  Never made a mistake with the ball.  So, we can say we beat the best team in the world in a world championship tournament even if it was just 1 game out of 4.  But for a period of about 8 or 9 balls we actually controlled the match and had a lead early in the third game.  Even when we weren't winning we were very competitive.

It was great to see Kevin, Jessie and Gary.  Wish other could have come as well.  Sorry you guys are going to have to put up with Jesse's ego even more now.

That's really great. The ratings are based on playng sactioned or big tourny,s  so you can,t really go off rateing to know how good the players are going to be. I, am glad you guys did so good. I say who ever is brave enough to travel and then can do good , has all the right in the world to brag .  But they should always show respect. To all the other players who play andmake it possible for us to hold tournaments .  We need to defend our 3rd place sometime. Looks like things went Exactly as I predicted they would, including your upset of taking a game from world champs , and being comptive in the match.  Now to see the Forrest for the trees , the one biggest difference is they know how to win all those games in big tournaments and if we figure that out we can have world champs too!!!! Correction:Me and Kevin actually took 5th in amateur doubles. Thanks Paul for coming over and playing with me. You played great. And it was great seeing you. and like you said... now we can say we beat the best team in the world, at the world championships. i say next year lets take the whole thing. After seeing what i saw down there, and what I learned from some of the pro masters, this year should be pretty fun.
