Thoughts on Warrior table?
« on: November 19, 2013, 07:49:40 PM »
I have been looking for a used coin opp tornado in my area but have had little luck (also impatient).  As a result I began looking at other options and came across the Warrior brand.   Does anyone have a perspective on the table?

For some quick background...I haven't played in years.  I used to play a lot in college on a tornado and was better than average.   :).    I am know looking for a table that would be good for both my family (kids 9 and 8  ) as well as my buddies who are looking to get back into the game.

I appreciate all input.   Thanks

Warrior makes a good table. I played on a 1st generation regularly and it was a fun table. Build quality was not as good as Tornado, but it played well for the price. If you plan on playing high level tournament foosball wait for the Tornado but many/most skills you develop on the Warrior should transfer to the Tornado pretty easily.

This is pretty much the question I made an account to ask. I had a line on a Storm II via Cragislist. That deal appears to have evaporated due to a typically vapid CL seller. I'm a pinball guy mostly, but my family also always has a blast playing foosball whenever we can, and that has always been on just utter pieces of *** like Sportcrafts, Harvards, that big wood thing at Costco, etc... I don't want crap, but then again, I don't want to dip too far into my pinball budget.

I figured I'd play the CL waiting game, but, these Warriors don't look half bad, and I've been hearing the name here and there as I've waffled on buying a table these past few years. I used the search feature to find comparisons of Tornados and Warriors, but those results were all from 2008.

How does the NEW line of Warrior compare to the econo lines of Tornado,  like the old Storm / Twister and the new... whatever they're called?

Thanks a lot for your time everyone!

If that's meant as dismissive because this topic is too redundant, that's fine and I accept. Sorry to waste your time.

If not, I have in fact spent a lot of time on the Warrior (and Tornado, and Fireball) website, and apart from reading a company's own marketing on their product, and being able to discern that those [protective tube things are Fugly, I can't really get much of an objective feel for the table. That's why I asked folks here who might have a lot more experience than I.

Sir flair owns Warrior tables so I don't think he is being dismissive.

When deciding whether to go new warrior vs. used base model tornado, you need to decide what you are trying to get out of the table. If you have a local tournament and plan on playing on larger, tour level events, I would say go Tornado. If you are a new player just looking for entertainment, Warrior is probably more forgiving to learn on and is certainly doesn't take any work to locate and purchase. Hunting for a good deal on a used tornado takes time.

I had a chance to play on Warrior at a tournament recently and the best thing I can say about it is the passes are easier to catch than any other table I've played on. The worse thing I can say is it doesn't seem to be as sturdy as a Tornado or Fireball, but the price is much lower so you get what you pay for. It's probably a good choice if you just want to play with your friends and family on a casual level. Like alaskan thunder said, if you're going to play serious and attend tournaments, you will probably want to get a Tornado.

Thanks for the responses!

I really have utterly no interest at all in tournaments. Still, I appreciate quality and detest crap. I get the feeling that Warriors are at least the equal of the low end home model Tornados. Is that wrong? If so it seems like they might be the way to go for my family.
