Best home use table
« on: December 01, 2013, 04:05:27 PM »
Hi all - I did a quick scan and couldn't find a good reference to this but I am sure it has been asked before.  I am looking to buy a home use table but I was wondering about the one goalie vs. 3 goalie setup.  I played a bunch in college and always had a 1 goalie set up with corner ramps but most of the tables I have found are not set up that way.  Please provide guidance on the following.

1. best table value for home use
2. whether or not a goalie set up with ramps is necessary or is that an old school method of playing foosball that is outdated now?

Thanks!

It will be a long time before Tournament Soccer and Tornado players see eye to eye.  Being that TS is no longer being used, Tornado seems to be the new standard.  Too bad, I always have preferred ramped corners. As to a good home table.... Do a little research online and look around on craigslist. You find a lot of nice tables there. Buy quality!  Enjoy!

I bought a Fireball 2 years ago with ramps, which I prefer over 3 man goalie because I'm old school, pre-Tournament Soccer. Its really a matter of personal choice, what's better is what's better for you. Warrior had a tournament in Texas a few months ago with ramps, Fireball makes tables both ways, so the option is out there. If you like ramps, get a 1-man goalie table. Tornado isn't the only foosball table in the world so if you're not into big time tournaments, get a different table with ramps. If you want to compete against the best players in the world you might want to go Tornado with the 3-man goalie. It's what YOU want that counts, both styles are good.
