Coin op question
« on: December 01, 2013, 06:44:33 PM »
Just bought a brown marble coin op for the basement.  I'm not a serious foosballer (yet), but figured I'd get something that will last and hold up to the teens.
Anyways, got the table for $400.  Probably overpaid a bit since it has a few bent rods, and needs some new men and bumpers, but wanted it for the holiday's and didn't want to wait a few months for the next one.  Condition is fair - some chips on the outside and marks from use, but table is not warped and hopefully has a lot of life left.
My major concern and reason I'm posting is that the white interior surface has a few cracks above 2 rods.  Where the ball hits is fine, but these 2 area's looks like someone tried to pick the table up by the rods and those area's cracked.  Walls are solid and laminate is attached solidly - does not affect gameplay, just cracked.
Sooooo.........
Anybody fixed this on their table?  I assume it's just formica and glue, but don't want to make a mess if it's going to cause more problems.  Just want the table to look nice.
Thanks in advance.
Ron

No one?  Should I just leave it as is, or is it worth the effort to fix?
Thanks
Ron

Can you post a pic of the damage? Unless it's a big crack that affects play, I'd just leave it.

Hopefully these pics come through.  As you can (hopefully) see, here are the 2 areas I'm talking about.  Both above the rods and don't affect play - worth fixing or just live with it.

Pictures came through. Have you removed the bearings yet and inspected the holes where the cracks are? It seems like it would be hard to crack the laminate like that unless the wood behind the laminate had also moved a bit

Wood underneath looks fine - no cracks or delamination that I can see.  Could a bad bumper have caused this damage?

Hard for me to imagine a bumper doing that, but maybe. If I were you, I'd just clean it all up and patch the cracks with laminate repair paste. Search the internet and you'll find a number of products. Won't look perfect but it will look better.
