Hi all, sorry if this has been covered in the past, Im not good at searching the forum.
I want to replicate as closely as I can to the Tornado table. Is there a schematic out there that would be helpful?

Follow up question for you. The goalbox deflector... im trying to think of solution for getting my hands on one without buying a table and scrapping it for parts. I couldnt find anything on the store link here... any thoughts on where to get one OR what the best type of material would be to recreate that oh so perfect sound? Thanks!

On the table I built I used a piece of sheet metal that sat loosely in a 45* dado (grooves). Has a super loud crash/gong (kind of like drum symbols) and is demoralizing to your opponent, or you depending how the games are going. It does not sound like a Tornado but is unique and sounds great.

One of the best sounding goals in my opinion is a Roberto Sport. Sounds like throwing a foosball into an empty metal bucket.

My brother in law is an HVAC technician and we've thrown the idea of using a retro-fitted register ( hes got tons lying around). I'll cut the dado if need be with a circular saw or even a hand saw...dont need to be super precise. Plan to use an adhesive and clear caulk to hold the piece of galvanized in place... or even screw it into place.

Great looking table and the plans are descriptions in your link are outstanding. The walnut inlays for your playfield  graphics are my favorite part. I built a table about 6 years ago before I even really knew how to play and would change so much if I were to do it again. I used 1/4" acrylic for my playfield and sanded too but found with humidity changes, I had some warping. I think If I were to build another I would implement the Tornado bearing/rod set up and I thought about having a 3/4" MDF playfield with vinyl graphics and topping it off with an epoxy pour (at least 3/16" thick) then roughing it up with orbital sander.

Any changes you would make?

Overall I’m very happy with my table and the gaming action. I too was concerned about the possibility of the acrylic not laying flat on the plywood which is why I decided to use the spray adhesive to glue the acrylic to the plywood. So far that approach has worked well and the playing field has remained flat. If I was to build another one I’d probably not opt for a removable playfield given the extra work involved.
